Play and movement

When was the last time you went on an outing without letting the weather decide the plan? In Helsinki, there’s something to do all year round – offering energy, adventure and new discoveries, without needing to invent everything yourself. Here are eight ideas that suit kids of all ages and make your day a little easier.
1. Explore outdoor playgrounds and activity parks
Whether it’s frosty or sunny – outdoor play is always a good idea. Helsinki has many accessible and diverse play areas where kids can run wild, even in their rain gear. The giant slide in Eiranpuisto, the nature trails of Lammassaari, and Lauttasaari’s activity park offer plenty to explore for adventurers big and small. Don’t forget snacks and dry socks!
2. Dive into museums – through a child’s eyes
Museums aren’t just for adults. Exhibits aimed at children – like the Children’s Museum, LUOMUS (Natural History Museum) and the Museum of Technology – open doors to curiosity and hands-on discovery. Kids are encouraged to touch, try and build – and sometimes even bounce with excitement. Rotating exhibitions make sure boredom never stands a chance.
