Espoo is like a giant playground – once you know where to look. Whether it’s a day off, a weekend or just a way to brighten an ordinary afternoon, families with kids will find plenty of things to do that keep everyone moving, exploring and smiling. This tip list works year-round – whatever the weather.
Outdoor play in parks and green spaces
Espoo is full of fresh air fun. Head to the beach in Matinkylä or walk the duck bridges in Laajalahti. Don’t forget Oittaa and Nuuksio’s nature trails – perfect for everyday adventurers with energy to burn. Many places have picnic areas and open spaces for running, climbing and rolling. A favorite stick or pinecone collection is a must!
Discover magic at the library
Espoo’s libraries are more than shelves and silence. Entresse, Iso Omena or Tapiola libraries offer story times, craft tables and sometimes even children’s theater. There are quiet reading areas, baby groups and creative zones. No matter the weather, there’s always a story to discover – and kids are welcome just as they are.
Jump into culture through museums and workshops
Indoor spaces like the EMMA museum and the Weegee exhibition center invite families to create and discover together. Kids’ corners and family events make art approachable and fun. It’s totally okay to wonder aloud, giggle, or draw your own version of modern art!
